How does you project use of challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

Our film challenges conventions by using an object that does not inspire fear into the heart of the users. Instead of using an object such as a doll, that has been used in movies such as Annabelle or Chucky, that some people are commonly scared of we used an ice machine. We also challenged conventions by using a different font than typical popular horror movies. Popular horror movies such as Get Out, Halloween, It Follows, and Scream all have blocky letters. Our film's title has a chiller font. This font is similar to that of Sixth Sense. Our film followed conventions more than challenged for example one way we used conventions is by involving death. We involved death by have Sharon dragged into the ice machine. Death in horror movies is extremely common there are even movies where the entire premise of the movie is killing, such as Final Destination which had 5 movies. Another convention we used if having a supernatural aspect by having a demon. The Exorcist is one of the most recognizable horror film that contains a demon. Rather than using a lesser used supernatural creature or phenomenon, we used a demon which we thought would be most likely to attract our target audience. Suspenseful music is a common factor among all horror films in our film we used it twice. As horror movies tend to use the music just before their horror aspect appears or a before a death, we did this exact things with the music appearing right before Sharon sees the demon which ultimately gets pulled into the ice machine.

The social groups we represent are high school students as our characters are high school students. A social issue is not featured in our first two minutes, but if we were to produce more of the film then we would address the issue of kidnapping and the communities' reaction and response.
