Shot List

This is a high angle. I wanted to get an angle from the top of bleachers.

This a match cut. I wanted this involved because I like the way it looks and thought it would be a nice transition between shots.

This is a mid-shot. We did a mid-shot because we didn't want a close up, but we wanted to have the confusion and frustration on full view. 

This is an over-the-shoulder shot. We choose to use that shot, so me getting the cup would be seen. 

This is a wide shot. We decided to go with a wide shot to build suspense.

This is a mid-shot from a lower angle. We used this to help with suspense and to see emotion on my face. 

Scheduling

We scheduled on filming for Wednesday, but ended filming from Wednesday until Friday after school. On Thursday, I was able to find a person who could help operate the camera while we filmed the demon parts.

Casting

I will play Sharon because I took drama while I in middle school.
Rebecca will play the demon because she found the role interesting. 

Midterm First Semester Submission

We used fade in and fade out transitions for the credits. The film was developed like this because these helped the story flow from what started the whole idea from my thought for a demon in the ice machine. The script I wrote ended up not being used because people ended up not being able to make the scheduled filming days. However, I was able to improve my way threw the scenes and still have them flow together. 

Filming location- Training room

The training room is the best location because it is an easily accessible and has a big enough ice machine that people can fit in it. Because I am a student trainer I was about to get access to the training room for us to be able to film in it with the okay from the athletic trainer. I took different shots from different angles and areas in the training room to see what the shot would look like as we film.  My friend that was with got into the ice machine to make sure having a person sitting in there would look fine.

Storyboard

For the storyboard, I drew the pictures and my partner came of with the shots then we collectively decided what we wanted to happen during our opening.  

The opening of the film will be a wide shot of Sharon and maybe her friends walking together. We will do an over-the-shoulder shot of her opening the door. As Sharon goes to get ice from the ice machine there will be a low angle. After hearing a bang from inside the ice machine and proceeding to open the ice machine there will be a high angle. A close up on Sharon's face after shows the fear she feels as she sees the demon. Our last shot will be a wide shot of Sharon getting pulled in. 

Movie Script

The movie will be about a girl named Sharon's disappearance as her two friends Jimmy and Vesper try and not only solve what happened to her, but bring her back. The two friends, however, soon are pulled into a supernatural mystery, a demon, dating back to the early years of the school.

Our "production company" name will appear first with the text "presents" then fades to the title of our movie, "It Came From the Icebox."

A girl, Sharon, walking with two of her friends, enter the frame, which will be done with a wide shot.

Sharon: *stopping* Did you two hear what happened today?
Jimmy: *gasps* No, you have to tell me!
Friend 2: *sighs while rolling their eyes* She is obviously talking about Mackenzie cheating on Dylan.
Jimmy: *sarcastically* Well, sorry I don't keep up with their relationship.
Sharon *starting walk away from them*: Guys, I can't deal with this right now I'm going to go get some water because you two are giving me a headache.
Friend 2: Just meet us on the track.

Sharon walks over to the training room opening the door as spooky incidental music starts to play.

After she she grabs a cup of water the will be a low angle shot as she goes to get ice. The lights flicker on and off randomly.
Sharon: *scoffing* Would it kill the school to fixes these stupid things.
Ice Machine: *shuffling noises and a bang comes from inside*

Sharon: *wandering over* Must be a rat *opens the lid then thinking she sees something she slams it shut* no no no there was nothing in there nothing *opens the lid again slowly*

Demon stares up at Sharon and then pulls her into the ice machine. A scream is heard as a wide shot of Sharon getting pulled into the ice machine. After the screen cuts abruptly cuts to black.

Movie Ideas

My partner and I would like to have a comedy side to our horrorish film, so we are thinking of having a supernatural aspect that is not only spooky, but funny.
Some supernatural ideas:

• a killer demon in a freezer

I am a student trainer at our school, so I would be able to be able to get into one of the training rooms that holds not on , but two ice machines with one being empty and doesn't work.

• a hunted car

My friend that I am thinking of asking to be in our movie has a older car we could use.

•   a spoof of Attack of the Killer Tomatoes  with Attack of the Killer Rubber Ducks

My partner has a rubber duck collection of around 40 ducks which can be a good if we want to do a shot with a bunch of ducks attacking.

• a twist on the folklore child's game of Bloody Mary where instead of having a mirror, blowing out a candle, and saying "Bloody Mary" three times it would be a phone, turning off the phone's flashlight and say "Techy Mary" three times, but she only appears if you have ever left a mean comment anywhere from social media to a review site to kill you. 

Everyone has a phone and my partner and I would be able to be find a dark room because all you have to do is turn off the lights. I feel that it could be a fun modern take on an old tale. 

Research- Dracula: Dead and Loving It

Dracula: Dead and Loving It is a 1995 comedy horror movie that was a spoof Bram Stoker's Dracula novel. The movie featured actors such as Leslie Nielsen, Mel Brooks, and Steven Weber.  The movie received 10.7 million dollars at the box office, but had a budget of 30 million dollars. Because of an abundance of negative reviews and low box office total the movie was considered a flop. The film starts with featuring the production company's logo, Castle Rock Entertainment. A book with the name "Dracula" appears with what appears to be on a red silk background that is moving. In association with garmount then appears on the bottom of the screen followed by a brooksflims production. The title, Dracula: Dead and Loving It, then appears. The book opens after and it happens to be a book about vampires with it mainly just being pictures as the pages turn different names of stars appear. After the stars, those who did casting and who were the costume designers was shown. The other credits that appeared were associate producers, film editors, production editors, director of photography, executive editor, and music, screenplay, and story by. 

Research- The Refrigerator

The Refrigerator is a 1991 supernatural comedy horror movie about a fridge that happens to be a portal to hell. This film overall took four years to make and because it was a independent film with a limited budget the filmmakers decided not to have it rated resulting in The Refrigerator becoming a straight to video movie. The movie starts with a blue screen saying Avenue D Films LTD. presents. Then the movie continues with a close up on the tire that is featured in a pile of junk. The focus shifts to a car that speeds past containing a drunk couple as they stumble up to their apartment. After a little while, the woman goes to get a drink of water from the sink and while looking in the mirror above the sink there is a red light. The woman then proceeds to walk suspiciously to the fridge when it opens producing a red light with smoke and engulfs her. The camera then zooms in on her mouth as she screams. The title flies up in a spiral motion. After the title is shown the screen switches between different solid colors as the credits roll. Credits that were featured were those staring in the film, the director, production manager, music producer, editors, etc.

Research- Return of the Killer Tomatoes

Return of the Killer Tomatoes is a 1988 American comedy horror film directed by John De Bello. This is a sequel to The Attack to the Killer Tomatoes. The second movie in a four movie franchise. This movie stars Anthony Starke, Karen Mistal, John Astin, and George Clooney. Return of the Killer Tomatoes earned 5 million dollars with an unknown budget. The movie stars with what is presumed to be a mad scientist laughing over a tomato saying "this time we shall not fail". Four Square Productions presents appears in the final third on the screen as if the screen was cut into thirds horizontally. The movie then shows Attack of Killer Tomatoes until "attack" is crossed out in a white x with "return" next to it. Different clips such as a giant tomato rolling towards a group of soldier firing at it and a group of people at a bunch of normal size tomatoes on the ground as those who are staring in the film names appear. A newspaper with the headline "Tomatoes Smashed" framed on a wall as it is being dusted is then featured in a close up. The camera then slowly pans over the multiple other newspapers framed all having to do with Wilbur Finletter. The movie then follows a delivery boy as he delivers a pizza from Finletter Pizza on his light blue scooter to a lone white house with the directors name on the door. 

Research- Attack of the Killer Tomatoes

The Attack of Killer Tomatoes was a 1978 parody science fiction film. It made about 567,000 dollars at the box office with its 90,000 dollar budget. John De Bello, the director, was nominated for a Stinker Award of worst sense of direction (stop them before they direct again). The movie opens with an establishing shot of a town zooming in into a fade transition to a woman washing her dishes. A tomato then appears in the woman's sink to which the tomato then jumps from her sink and corner the woman causing her to scream. The movie then fades black with the stereotypical slasher film music implying the woman was killed. Four Square Productions Presents then appears on the screen only for it to then fades back to black which is followed by a tomato thrown at the screen and the title appears. The title was followed by more tomatoes being thrown at the screen as the background of the credits including the writers, producers, directors, stars, co-stars, cinematography, score composer, who wrote the story, the music, who choose the music, how its based on a novel, and special appearances all in that order.

Research- Scream 3

Scream 3 is a 2000 American slasher, horror spoof film. Scream 3 starred multiple well known actors and actresses such as Corteney Cox, Patrick Dempsey, Scott Foley, Jenny McCarthy, and more. This is the third movie in a four movie franchise. The film's budget was 40 million dollars and it made 161.8 million dollars at the box office worldwide. Because this film was released after the violence that happened at Columbine High School, the violence in the film was turned down and the comedy was increased making the movie more of a horror spoof. The MTV movie awards nominated Neve Campbell for best female performance and Parker Posey for best comedic performance. At the Teen Choice Awards in 2000 Scott Foley was nominated for choice sleazebag and Courteney Cox and David Arquette won choice chemistry. Scream 3 opened with the logo for Dimension Films. After the logo, the movie starts with a close up the Hollywood sign followed by aerial shots of a Hollywood freeway. While the aerial shots take place there is a helicopter hovering in some of the shots because of the helicopter it is learned that there was a multiple injury crash causing major backup. Then there is a transition into a car with Cotton Wearly who happens to be on the phone when a "fan" accidentally calls, but turns out to be the scream killer who is at Cotton's girlfriend, Christine's house and is threatening to kill her if Cotton does not give up the whereabouts of where Sydney Prescott is. There is then a parallel cuts to show the killer in Christine's house and Cotton trying to get to her house by driving erratically through downtown Hollywood. The killer ends up tricking Christine into thinking he is Cotton by using a voice recording. After Cotton arrives at her house there is an over-the-shoulder shot to show no one is in his line of sight. Cotton then finds the stab marks in the door Christine is hiding behind resulting in him breaking into the room and her trying to attack him. The killer then shows up and kills both. Right before the killer goes to stab Cotton for the final time Scream 3 flashes up onto the screen with a scream.

Research- Start

My partner, Rebecca, and I started look at similar movie to the one we plan to make, such as horror spoofs, horror comedies, and parody movies. We decided to focus on the parody movie in our research looking at the finished covers, catchphrases, sequels, and ratings. I wanted to look at the rating, so I can see how exactly people reacted to these movie through their reviews. Through the reviews I was able to get a grasp on what the viewers of these films seemed to like and dislike with this information I will be able to better suit my film to appeal to viewers. 

Project Selection- My Decision

I have chosen to do the film project because I feel it involves more creativity than a magazine does and I feel that I would enjoy the experience more too. I will be working with my friend, Rebecca who is in my media studies class. The two of us have decided to make a spoof horror movie, but leaning more to the horror side with the two minutes. We want to make a horror spoof because we are not trying to make the film too serious and want some fun aspects. I will be acting in the movie because I have taken drama in middle school, while Rebecca will  be the cameraman because she has experience in making videos. Together we will be co-directors, so we can both experience the job and express our ideas. I think we would make a great team because every time we have worked together on projects it has worked out.

Project Selection- Film

I believe the film project will be a good fit for me. While watching the Newsroom, I learned how news castors and their crew gather research and present it into a newscast. During my journalism class last year, one of the assignments was to make a newscast, so I am aware of how to put things together cohesively to make it flow. Personally, directing seems interesting to him and would love to experience that in doing a movie rather than just a newscast or music video. The Inside Story of the Making of Ferris Bueller showed that John Hughes would get stressed out while directing the Ferris Bueller. Getting stressed out might be a problem for me as I can either to deal with it or start yelling at people. I have also only edited videos into Imovie and have only used it twice once in sixth grade and the other time in ninth grade. Overall, I feel as though the movie project might be more interesting to create.

Project Selection- Magzine

I am familiar with the aspects of print journalism as I took journalism during my freshmen year. While taking journalism my favorite type of article to write was a feature article, but the only way of incorporating a feature I can think of is through either a chef in a food magazine or a stylist for a fashion magazine. The issue with doing that is I feel that finding a connection to interview those type of people would be rather difficult. Based on what I have noticed while watching The Newsroom and All the President's Men, when an interview is included in what you write whether the person is an expert on what your writing or actually featured in the topic or place it gives your work an added bonus. On the other hand, doing a food review could prove to be easier, but I wasn't as confident in my writing abilities when doing the review. I am not exactly the best when it comes to grammar, so when doing a magazine I would not feel too comfortable with how my grammar is presented. Choosing the genre of the magazine will be difficult because I am either not interested in fashion or sports and do not know enough about these topics and food to make a whole magazine about them. Overall, I believe that the magazine will not be the best fit for me.
